Santa Fe Neighborhoods

Since Santa Fe luxury homes are my specialty, this overview concentrates primarily on areas in Santa Fe where luxury homes are located.

Within the city limits, the variety of homes is endlessly unique architecturally, culturally, and socially. It’s one of the many reasons Santa Fe is referred to as the “City Different”. Shopping for real estate in Santa Fe on a ‘price per square foot’ basis is not recommended, though, since there are innumerable variations in finishes, age and amenities within the same locale. For instance, one one historic eastside street alone, you’ll find small condominium compounds, a newly completed adobe home, old historic homes, bungalows, estates and beautiful quintessential, charming Santa Fe adobe homes. Very few ’subdivisions’ exist within the city limits of Santa Fe, so you’ll not want for variety when checking out homes in this area.

Historic Eastside - Santa Fe NM

The historic eastside of Santa Fe is one of the most sought-after areas, partially due to its charm, as well as being within walking distance to Santa Fe’s infamous downtown Plaza. A walk to dinner along East Alameda is a sensory delight–with the fragrance of jasmine, honeysuckle…the cook evening air, and the faint sound of the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica bells tolling, as well as live music from Santa Fe’s downtown plaza.

North/Northeast Quadrant - Santa Fe, NM

In the north/northeast quadrant, along the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, many new developments have been created for buyers of luxury homes. Among them:

  • Sierra del Norte
  • Cerros Colorados
  • Santa Fe Summit
  • Bishops Lodge Villas, a 34-unit pueblo-revival style freestanding townhome development, most with majestic views

Southeast Area - Santa Fe, NM

The southeast area of Santa Fe also lies along the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains where you’ll still find winding, short dirt roads that lead to spectacular homes, usually on larger lots.

Since these homes usually back to the mountains, the sunset views are breathtaking.

Northwest Quadrant - Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe has been blessed with several beautiful new developments in the northwest quadrant, where ‘big sky’ views are important, and land is king.

You’ll not want to miss the Las Campanas resort community. Life at Las Campanas includes two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses, an unparalleled Equestrian Center, a well-appointed Spa & Tennis Center and the inviting Hacienda Clubhouse that serves as the heart of the community. This peaceful setting is home ot more than a dozen distinctive neighborhoods, consisting of custom and semi-custom pueblo-style homes and residences with lock-and-leave convenience, to handsomely crafted log-cabin homes and pristine developer homesites that invite residents to match their living spaces to their lifestyles. Each home and homesite uniquely reflects the spirit of the Las Campanas community, offering warm, inviting gathering places for the indoor and outdoor living possible in New Mexico’s mild four-season climate.

Surrounding Las Campanas, and located in the county, there are numerous developments. Among them are:

  • La Mariposa
  • La Serena
  • La Tierra
  • Las Dos
  • Sonrisa
  • Sundance Estates
  • Salva Tierra (gated community)
  • Sangre de Cristo Estates (gated community)
  • Monte Sereno
  • Aldea de Santa Fe - an exciting New Urbanist village destined to become a harmonious community where people can live, work, shop, socialize and play. With a name taken from a traditional Spanish world for ‘village’, the Aldea de Santa Fe development is based on traditional Spanish Colonial towns where homes are gathered about a central commercial and civic plaza. Built on a series of dramatic ridges, the village has terrific views of the surrounding mountains. The properties’ rugged landscape and scale of distances create a
